Firsts
Matti rolled over from back to front all on her own today for the first time! She was trying to get to a toy to suck on and boom, she was over.

Bathtime
Matti has been getting closer and closer to accomplishing her goal of getting her entire fist in her mouth.

B-burg extended family Christmas
Here is a picture of almost the entire Brandenburg crew (Nick wasn't able to come home from the base). Darin and Caressa were the gracious hosts this year. Matti was able to meet lots more of her cousins and a few more people wrote in her journal (those entries are always so fun to read). We had a wonderful meal and then played our traditional game of whoppee! Marlyn was the big winner this year. It was quite disappointing because I didn't get a whoppee once - oh well - maybe next year.
Matti's Four Month Check-Up
We went to the doctor today for Matti's four-month check-up. She is four months exactly today. It doesn't seem possible that this much time has already gone by. She was 26 inches long which was almost putting her off the charts for height - she was over the 95th percentile. She weighed 15 pounds 2 ounces, so that put her at the 82nd percentile for her age. Those cheeks are just so cute! She also has quite a rash on her back in the shape of the silk screened (or however they do that) tag from one of her onesies. She got her second set of shots and that made her quite angry! Now we are just having a periodically sleepy then fussy day. Hopefully we will not have a replay of the time after her last shots when we had a 40 hour scream fest! She is still hating tummy time with a passion, but loves to be balanced so she can "stand" and see what's going on around her.
Vikings Playoff Game
Steve and I at the Vikings playoff game! Steve was so giddy that we were there. It was fun to watch. Too bad it turned out to be a disappointment. It is amazing how many people know what the Vikes should have been doing each moment of the game. The Vikings should just put some kind of recording device in the stands to help them figure out some new strategies.
Thanks Carolyn for babysitting!
New Year's Eve
We spent New Year's Eve on the candlelight hike at Fort Snelling. We did the same thing last year - little did I know that I was pregnant at the time. So, this is officially Matti's second hike. We got our picture taken by one of the park rangers there because Matti was the youngest hiker. We just did a little of the entire hike, because it was so cold. It made the cider when we got back into the visitor's center all the better. Dad was able to stay awake to ring in the New Year. Despite a valiant effort, Mom fell asleep at a quarter to twelve, though Dad was kind enough to wake her for a New Year's smooch.
