Skipper Daddy!
Daddy and his crew capsized and righted their day sailer four times this morning. It was tough but fun; we were especially glad to get out on the water because we had spent the first hour scrubbing scum off the boat hulls (yuck). After completing the written exam with a passing score, Daddy is officially a skipper! I can now take guests out to sail on Lake Harriet any time outside of Club sailing times. All you need is a life jacket and a signed waiver (one page, just for insurance purposes). I can't wait to take Mommy and Peanut out for our first solo voyage!
Minnehaha Falls
The day was hot and humid. Farrah Fawcett had been dead for 10 hours; Michael Jackson had been dead about five. We didn't feel like cooking so we went to Minnehaha Falls and had a delicious seafood dinner at the Sea Salt Bar & Grill, with the "Thriller" album playing on a loop as the crowd coiled in a line in the stifling heat. But the food was TOTALLY worth the wait. Then we took Peanut over to admire the falls.
Father's Day 2009
Grandpa B. and Daddy received personalized tiles from Matti Pants!
Herman the German, apparently some famous Kraut
New Ulm, home of the devious Hun
The Bohemian Bed & Breakfast - we highly recommend it!
Morgan Creek Vineyard (they get only 5% of their grapes from their own vineyard)
For Father's Day weekend, we enjoyed wine and pizzettes at the Morgan Creek Winery, followed by a delicious dinner at George's Fine Steaks & Spirits and a relaxing night at the Bohemian Bed & Breakfast, all in New Ulm. Grandma and Grandpa B. did a great job watching Peanut! Next day we opened presents and met for dinner at the O.K. Corral. We thought that was all the excitement for one day, except that Darin had one more surprise for us!
Caught in the act!
She hasn't quite figured out how to crawl yet, but Aubrey can scoot around on her butt faster than you think. One evening I set her down in the middle of the living room with some toys while I made her dinner. When I came back, she had scooted over to the coffee table, dragged out her toy basket and unloaded every toy from it!

9 month check-up
Matti had her 9 month check-up today, although her official 9 month birthdate is tomorrow. She is now 29 1/2 inches. This places her in the 97th percentile. We had some questions about what the percentile piece meant. That means that 97% of girl babies that are the same age are shorter than Matti. Her weight is at 18 lbs 14.5 ounces which places her in the 53% percentile - right in the average range. Two quotes from the doctor during the visit: "She is very smart!" and "She's perfect!" Of course - we already knew that:)
